Climate and Environmental impact

The world's climate is changing as a result of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases. Climate research is a particular priority area for SP, helping to develop methods for the reduction of environmental impact. With a staff of 160 working on energy and environmental technologies, we possess Sweden's broadest range of expertise in the climate field.

Extreme weather is occurring every more frequently.  Heavy rain and flooding in Sweden, drought and heat waves in Europe, drought and fires in Australia:  many agree that these extreme weather effects are due to anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.
The climate problem is extensive, and calls for new research and the development of more efficient ways of using energy and resources, in addition to the implementation of new processes and knowledge.  At SP, we can tackle the complexity of the climate problem through our multi-disciplinary working areas.

Positive effects of our work
Working closely with research departments in universities and industry, we deliver the services and knowledge that companies and society require on national and international levels.  Our activities extend from research and development to improve the efficiency of energy use to the small but vital steps on the road to a better and more climate-friendly society.
