Mechanical engineering and the automotive industry

Today, manufacturing industry and - particularly - the automotive industry face many challenges on an increasingly globalised market. Products, components and designs must be safe, efficient and have as little environmental impact, whether in production, use or at end of life, as possible. Robust designs require the input of knowledge from many technology areas. The use of alternative or lightweight materials imposes new requirements on determination of design capacities, methods of evaluation and methods of verification.

SP's activities in these working areas cover vehicles, machinery, railways, ships, offshore industries, steel structures and mechanical products and components in a wide range of sectors.

SP - a comprehensive resource
