Materials Technology and Chemistry
Materials technology is the field of science and knowledge which deals with the properties and applications of various materials. Our strength lies in chemical analysis, materials characterisation, structural and materials design, applied surface and colloidal chemistry, formulation, and controlled release. Applications include most materials, including polymers, biomaterials, functional materials, and surface protection systems.
The research is multi-disciplinary and interfaces with chemistry, physics, medicine, biology, environmental technology, and geology. It also includes biotechnology, with focus on the development of advanced analysis technologies for biological systems. Also, micro- and nano-technology offers a wide range of important and exciting opportunities of which we have, so far, only seen the beginning.
