Chase – Chalmers Antenna Systems VINN Excellence Centre

Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology, together with RISE and KTH Royal Institute of Technology and 15 or so industrial partners, have spent a decade working on building up world leading antenna technologies at the VINN Chase Excellence Centre.

A range of different projects have been implemented on the basis of the partnership’s long-term needs. These have looked at traffic safety, satellite communications, sensor systems, mobile networks and cancer treatment, all focusing on antenna technology. Applied research has taken place in the fields of antenna systems, sensor systems, biomedical electromagnetism, communication systems and signal processing.

RISE has worked primarily on resolving issues in three fields:

  • Design and evaluation of multiport antennas for mobile telephone services.
  • Communication between vehicles (V2V) and communication between vehicles and infrastructure (V2I).
  • Analysis of user patterns in mobile networks.

During this project, our work has included devising software for multiport antenna analysis and design, characterisation methods for vehicle communication, multiband antenna prototypes for vehicle communication and user pattern statistics in mobile networks from an antenna and coverage perspective.

Chase’s work is now continuing in the new ChaseOn project, which you will find here.
