Measuring Technology in Fire Applications

Within fire technology there are a number of important areas with respect to measuring heat transfer, thermal properties of materials at high temperatures, particle production during fires, etc.

Measurement of heat flux is very important for several test methods and for validation of calculation models. Data of thermal properties of materials at high temperatures is limited and needed for e.g. calculation models. Generation of particles during fires is a new area. The methods developed at our Energy department are now being investigated for fire tests.

For fire test it is also important to determine measuring uncertainty. Stakeholders within this area are industry, other research institutes and governmental bodies.
