Combustion and Environment - Research and Development

In our R&D projects we study processes in the fuel bed (fixed and moving) from small scale wood boilers to large commercial heat- and power plants. In the laboratory we study in detail how separate fuel particles behave during pyrolysis, devolatilisation and combustion. Advanced measurement technique is used, for example to count and characterize ultra fine particles. Relations between fuel quality, combustion processes, deposits, corrosions and emissions are studied in several projects. The objective is to increase knowledge and render possible an efficient use of biofuel and sorted waste fractions with minimal impact on the environment.
