DECOS - Dependable Embedded Components and Systems

Aerospace safety at automotive cost: that is how the overall goal of the DECOS project can be summarized.

Dependable embedded systems are no longer limited to aerospace, railway, and nuclear applications. Instead dependable embedded systems are more and more being introduced in the medical, process control, and especially in the automotive application domain.

Thus, there is an increasing demand for cost-efficient dependable COTS components and tools for development of dependable systems.

Upon completion, the DECOS project will provide an integrated distributed execution platform, a set of pre-validated hardware components and software modules, and tools for the design of distributed dependable embedded systems.

SP’s focus in the project

SP’s main task is to develop a test bench for verification and certification of DECOS components and applications based on the DECOS technology. A generic certification process and generic safety cases will be established. Besides developing the DECOS test bench, SP will verify the fault tolerant communication layer of the DECOS platform using fault injection.
