SEasonal PErformance factor and MOnitoring for heat pump systems in the building sector
SEPEMO is an EU-project that will develop a universal methodology for field measurement of heat pump systems and calculation of seasonal performance factor (SPF).
SPF is a measure of how efficient a heat pump is, and is used to calculate how much the energy consumption could be decreased if a heat pump was installed. The factor depends on how much useful heat that the heat pump delivers and much energy, e.g. electricity, it consumes. The SPF can be used to compare different heat pumps but today there are several different calculation methods which makes the comparison more difficult.
The development of a methodology for field measurement of heat pump systems and calculation of SPF will be based on a number of field survies.
Guiding principles to develop quality schemes for heat pump systems based upon an SPF for certification of installers will also be developed. As well as an attempt to understand the key parameters influencing the reliability and efficiency of HP systems in residential buildings.
