Properties of larch

As part of the work of the EU-financed SIBLARCH project, SP Trä in Skellefteå has tested the mechanical properties of Siberian larch.  The material tested was up to 25 % denser than pine or spruce, and its modulus of elasticity was also about 25 % higher.  However, the wood is more brittle than pine or spruce.
