Metrology in nanotechnology

Traceable metrology in nanotechnology is deemed to be an important growth area where RISE has a broad competence.
Sustainable growth

Much has been said about the spectacular growth in nano-technology production expected in the near future. But to reach a sustainable growth requires a substantial investment in technological and commercial infrastructure.

Quality-assured nanometrology

Manufacturing and trading of nano products will create a need for new, high-quality measurement technology and new standards, but unnecessary costs and duplication may occur if international developments are not readily harmonised in the field.

Establishment of networks

Within Swedish national metrology, preparatory work within the very wide and diverse area of nanotechnology is underway. Contacts are being established with networks, both within the country, Nordic and European, and with academia, government agencies and large and small enterprises, to identify best coordination opportunities to meet the major challenges of nanometrology.

CO-NANOMET

CO-NANOMET (Coordination of Nanometrology in Europe) is an EU project where SP is responsible for technology as well as the development of nanometrological support to industry. Read more...
