Hydraulic Fluids which meet environmental requirements according to Swedish Standard SS 15 54 34
Hydraulic Fluids are used to transfer power in the hydraulic systems of various machines such as forest machines, excavators, trucks, cranes, etc. Large quantities of oil unintentionally leak from many of these systems and will influence the environment in many ways. That’s why a Swedish Standard has been compiled with, among other things, environment requirements on Hydraulic Fluids.
This Standard "Hydraulic Fluids – Requirements and Test Methods – SS15 54 34 " is now available in edition No. 4, where the demands on biodegradability have been sharpened. For further information about products in the following list, please contact the respective suppliers or manufacturers.
The part of this Standard which is related to environment (Section 4.3) is based on the criteria which were compiled within the project "Ren Smörja – Clean Lubricants", initiated by the City of Gothenburg in collaboration with the Swedish National Chemicals Inspectorate. The examination mentioned above does not include the technical requirements of the Standard. Information about the technical properties, etc., of the hydraulic fluids is available from the suppliers. When it comes to the function of the products it is important to consider the hydraulic system in question. Therefore, an alteration of hydraulic fluid should always be implemented in consultation with the equipment manufacturer and the supplier of the hydraulic fluid.
The list has been compiled by applying the Standard´s criteria specified by the project “Ren Smörja – Clean Lubricants” in Gothenburg. By an agreement between the parties concerned this regularly updated website replaces the printed list which was published in November 1996.
