Smoke, fire gases and other gaseous compounds
At Chemical Analysis we have experience and instrumentation for determining identity and concentration of gaseous components in for example smoke gases from fires. The technique can also be used for determining the time-concentration profile for gaseous extinguishing media etc. The equipment is mobile and can be used outside the laboratory.
For gaseous and low-molar-mass compounds time resolved (on-line) measurements are made using:
- FTIR spectrometer equipped with heated gas cells
Dedicated on-line instruments are also used, such as
- chemiluminescence's instrument for the measurement of nitrogen oxides, NOx
- flame ionisation detector (FID) for total (unburned) hydrocarbons (THC)
- IR detector for carbon monoxide
These measurements can be complemented with adsorbents measurements
