Force and torque
We calibrate your force and torque measuring devices, either in our laboratories or at site. Calibration of your equipment against traceable references tells you how accurate your instruments and sensors are. We provide accredited calibration, with the appropriate accuracy for your requirements.
Calibration of force and torque sensors
We calibrate every type of force and torque sensor: not only those such as load cells, dynamometers and crash sensors, but also complete measuring systems and sensors incorporated in various types of load testing machines. In addition, we calibrate various types of weighing instruments, such as spring balances and crane scales.
Field or laboratory calibration
Calibration can be performed in our laboratories at SP, or at site, where our customers are working. Site calibrations include tensile and pressure testing machines for materials or for concrete, as well as simpler measuring devices such as torque spanners.
In addition to calibration of force and torque measuring or testing equipment, we can also calibrate other test machines such as hardness testers or Charpy testers.
Classification
We can perform classification testing of load cells and load testing machines as listed below to the relevant standards.
Calibration of force and torque:
- Load cells - compression 1 N to 6 MN
- Load cells - tension 1 N to 1 MN
- Force testing machines Up to 18 MN
- Torque transducers 0,1 Nm to 2500 Nm
Traceability and quality of measurement
As national laboratory for force, we are the primary Swedish reference for measurement of force, with traceability to the Swedish national laboratory for mass and for the local gravity to Lantmäteriet. We therefore have access to the entire chain of traceability as required by modern quality systems, and can thus guarantee the highest quality of calibration of standards and instruments.
