Calibration of artificial ear
There are several types of standardized artificial ears. The most common ear used at present in Sweden when calibrating audiometers is specified in IEC 303, later replaced by IEC 60318-3, and is often called the reference coupler.SP calibrates measurement equipment for calibration of audiometers, each part separately or as complete measurement chains. If a 1/1 octave band filter is used, it is important that this is a part of the measurement chain at the calibration as the audiometric frequency series contains points close to the outer edge of the filter bands.
Other types of artificial ears and couplers are also calibrated by SP.
