Test method EN ISO 11925-2, Reaction to fire tests - Ignitability of building products subjected to direct impingement of flame - Part 2: Single-flame source test.

Main field of application

Classification according to Euroclass B, Bfl, BL, C, Cfl, D, Dfl, E, Ef och EL according to the European System. Additional test methods are also used, see data sheet EN ISO 9239-1 and EN ISO 13823.

The test method measures the ignitability of building products when exposed to a small flame.

Examples of products that can be tested with this method

All types of building products, for example those comprised by fire regulations and included in the European Construction Product Directive, CPD.

Material consumption during test

Complete test,
12 tests
18 test specimens, 9 specimens in one direction (e.g. production direction) and 9 specimens in perpendicular direction to the first direction, with the dimension 90 mm x 250 mm.
Indicative test,
4 tests
4 test specimens, 2 specimens in one direction (e.g. production direction) and 2 specimens in perpendicular direction to the first direction, with the dimension 90 mm x 250 mm.

Procedure

The test takes place inside a test chamber where the test specimen is mounted vertically. The test specimen is subjected to edge and/or surface exposure from a gas flame. During the test, time of ignition, burning droplets and whether the flames reach the top marking of the test specimen within a prescribed time period, is registered.
