Safety Systems in Vehicles

The Safety Systems in Vehicles working area covers all those systems that prevent or limit the effects of accidents involving road vehicles, such as private cars, commercial vehicles, buses, cyclists etc., and not forgetting pedestrians.

SP possesses a wide range of competences and specialist knowledge in both passive safety systems (intended to provide protection when an accident cannot be avoided) and active safety systems (intended to reduce the risk of an accident occurring, and to reduce the effects of the accident).

Testing, evaluation and investigation

SP is a notified Technical Service for many tests and inspections in the automotive field, and holds a wide range of accreditations for standardised test methods.  We perform tests, evaluations and investigations within a wide area of vehicle components forming parts of protection systems.  We also develop new and often unique test methods, as well as unique products in areas such as special-purpose vehicles, thus providing a constant input to, and development of, our competences in new working areas.
