Taximeters and taximeter equipment
Taximeters are used to calculate and display the fare to be paid for the trip. The fare is based on the duration of the trip and/ or the travelled distance.
CE-marking of taximeters
SP is a notified body for MID (directive for measurement instruments 2004/22/EC) and can carry out testing and examination to verify the fulfilment of the requirements, regardless which combination of modules the manufacturer chooses.
When the requirements have been fulfilled all necessary documents in order for the manufacturer to be allowed to CE-mark the product and put it on the common market (EU/EES) are issued.
Quality systems
Apart from testing SP can also carry out examinations and audits for module D and H1 and if there is a need for it also carry out audits for ISO 9000.
Testing for national approval of taximeter equipment
SP kan carry out testing and examination to verify that the national requirements for taximeter equipments are fulfilled. In order for a taximeter to be used on the Swedish market, a printer must be connected to it. The applicable requirements for taximeter equipment (printer and software for special functions) can be found in STAFS 2006:17.
Approval is granted by the Swedish Road Administration
If other requirements are valid for other countries SP may be able to carry out testing for those as well.
For countries outside EU testing can also be carried out according to the European standard EN 50148.
