VCI packaging

What is VCI?

VCI packaging (VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) concist of packaging material, usually paper or plastic, which has been impregnated with corrosion inhibitors.

VCI packaging have been increasingly used to temporarily protect metals against corrosion attack during transport and storage. SP has worked with VCI testing and research for several years.

Test methods

At SP, we perform tests of VCI packaging according to various methods, such as

• Razor Blade Test
• VIA test
• Accelerated climate test

These tests are well established and have received wide support. There is at the moment no standardised method developed.
