SP Chemistry and Materials

The Department of Materials Science and Chemistry offers expertise in organic and inorganic analytical chemistry as well as in a broad spectrum of areas within materials technology.

Together with our colleagues at other units at SP, we have competence that covers all aspects of the life cycle of a material. We provide our clients with solutions to their problems, damage analyses, tailor-made and standardised tests, and evaluations.

Furthermore, we are involved in a large number of research projects, often in collaboration with industry, institutes, and academia. We are active in areas such as organic and inorganic analysis (main component, components, and trace element), surface characterisation, environmental analysis, as well as characterisation and testing of polymeric, metallic and ceramic materials, surface coatings, corrosion protection products, and materials for information storage.

We carry out basic and applied research in the following program areas:

Chemistry and Materials Technology - Equipment

In addition to large amounts of standard equipment for testing and research laboratories, a large number of less common equipment is also available. Read more...

SCC - Scandinavian Coatings Center

Scandinavian Coatings Center was formed in conjunction with the merger between SP, SP Trä and YKI, Institute for Surface Chemistry.Read more...

Chemistry

Vi utför utredningar för att lösa många typer av problem som uppstår inom industrin. Stora resurser blir tillgängliga genom att vi utnyttjar SP:s totala bredd då det behövs. Read more...

Polymer Technology

Polymer Technology works with characterisation and evaluation of polymeric materials properties, such as mechanical properties and life length predicition. A major part of our work is the base for certification of products for use in different areas, from packages to buildings.Read more...

Surface Technology

At the section for Surface Technology we work with virtually all types of products and materials, with focus on coatings (protective, decorative), polymers, metals, paper, printers, microfilmRead more...
