Chemistry, Materials and Surfaces

The Department of Chemistry, Materials and Surfaces offers expertise in organic and inorganic analytical chemistry as well as in a broad spectrum of areas within materials technology.

Together with our colleagues at other units at SP, we have competence that covers all aspects of the life cycle of a material. We provide our clients with solutions to their problems, damage analyses, tailor-made and standardised tests, and evaluations.

Furthermore, we are involved in a large number of research projects, often in collaboration with industry, institutes, and academia. We are active in areas such as organic and inorganic analysis (main component, components, and trace element), surface characterisation, environmental analysis, as well as characterisation and testing of polymeric, metallic and ceramic materials, surface coatings, corrosion protection products, surface and colloid chemistry, and materials for information storage.

We carry out basic and applied research in the following program areas:

Chemistry, Materials and Surfaces - Equipment

In addition to large amounts of standard equipment for testing and research laboratories, a large number of less common equipment is also available. Read more...

Chemistry

We carry out investigations to solve many types of problems that arise in industry. Great resources become available through utilizing the SP's overall width when needed.Read more...

Medical device technology

Development of medical devices requires interdisciplinary solutions as well as detailed work within several technical areas. Within the Medical Device Technology group we have collected SP’s core competence and activities regarding medical devices.Read more...

Polymer Technology

Polymer Technology works with characterisation and evaluation of polymeric materials properties, such as mechanical properties and life length predicition. A major part of our work is the base for certification of products for use in different areas, from packages to buildings.Read more...

Surface Technology

At the section for Surface Technology we work with virtually all types of products and materials, with focus on coatings (protective, decorative), polymers, metals, paper, printers, microfilmRead more...

Life Science

We work with research and development in technology areas that include pharmaceutical, food, medical devices, cosmetics / hygiene, cleaning, agro, personal care and pharmaceutical manufacture.Read more...
