Biological Laboratory

The availability of environmentally friendly products, their effects on the environment and concerns about recycling play an increasing part in society. SPs biological laboratory ”Biolab” has gathered SPs biological competence and advanced equipment to be able to meet the growing need for biological testing. Biolab offers large technical opportunities and technical services concerning microbiology, effects on the environment, toxicity, recycling etc.
Research

Based on a unique combination of competent personnel in materials technology, chemistry and microbiology together with all of the technical resources at SP, Biolab is a base for internationally competitive research.

We conduct research primarily on development of new environmentally friendly materials, recycling and development of new test methods. We solve different kinds of problems, often in cooperation with other parts of SP, and develop new test programs suitable for giving answers to arising questions.

Testing and technical evaluation

We also perform specially designed and standardised tests and technical investigations and among others also quality control and third party certification of materials and products that after use have to be taken care of in an environmentally proper way.

The Swan Ecolabelling

SP perform functional tests on compost bins according to criteria set up by the Nordic Ecolabelling, “the Swan”.Read more...
