Combustion and Aerosol Technology
SP’s Combustion and Aerosol Technology section covers the fields of air filtration, waste management, and combustion and gasification of biofuels and waste. Many years of technical evaluations provide a sound experience-based foundation for extensive research activities. The section possesses knowledge and experience of a wide working range, within which we provide testing, development and research facilities. In particular, work is concentrated on the following main areas:
• Combustion and gasification of biofuels and waste
• Waste management – the entire chain from collection to end product
• Biological treatment of waste
• Air cleaning
Manufacturers and plant owners use our services to test, evaluate and certify their combustion equipment, air filters and processing plants for sludge, bio-fertilisers and compost. We also perform airborne emission measurements from sources such as power and heating stations, biogas plants and landfill sites.
Research projects are generally concentrated on facilitating and optimising the use of biofuels and waste as sources of energy and materials. Such work may be carried out either directly on behalf of industry, or in conjunction with industry, universities and the public arena. Projects can vary in type, ranging from purely technical projects to synthesis work and investigations.
