Software for wood industryFor more than 25 years, we have been developing software for the Swedish timber industry.
Our software is used e.g. in various measuring and scanning equipments at sawmills. Software is also available for development and simulation where the results are used to optimise processes or products.
The software is under constant development and used in conjunction with courses at SP, for research purposes or as a standalone application with some license agreement. Contact us to learn more about our programs (contact information in the right column).
Below we present the software SPFiT Fire in Timber, TimberNav and SP PoleOptimizers.
SPFiT Fire in Timber
The load-bearing (R) and the separating (EI) function of components made of timber elements can be calculated and verified according to models given in the fire part of Eurocode 5, EN 1995-1-2.
However, some models in the Eurocode are complex. SP has therefore developed a software tool to verify the fire resistance very fast and easy. SPFit is available as version 2.0 covering both the load bearing (R) and the separating (EI) function. We offer the software via license and courses.
TimberNav helps to prognosticate and keep track of timber classes, postings and product outcomes with statistical methods and linear programming. The application can additionally optimise the sawmill outcomes by allowing you to decide timber class boundaries and optimal postings based on the sawmill's product needs.
SP PoleOptimizers continuously measures the diameter of the pole materials as they pass the meter. When the entire pole material has passed, cutting points are optimised at top and root value to optimize the finished pole for one or more price lists.
