HTC Small scale combustion

The project "Corrosion of high temperature materials in small scale wood-pellet fired boilers" aims to investigate high temperature materials (both existing and new materials) and corrosion mechanisms in salt-rich, corrosive environments in small scale boilers.

The overall goal of the project is to develop practically oriented knowledge about the corrosion processes in small and medium-sized plants, which are mainly fired with pellet-based biofuels. The intention is to minimize problems leading to operational disruptions and to be able to increase the service life of critical components.

We perform tests both in the laboratory and in field in plants under real conditions. We investigate both new alloys and existing materials in corrosive environments with ash.
