Ecodesign & Energy Labeling, and P-labeling
Hot water storage tanks
The Ecodesign and Energy Labeling Regulations for the first stage of hot water storage tanks and water heaters came into force as of September 26, 2015. RISE carries out tests for these products (LOT 2) in accordance with the rules and requirements imposed on the product. As of September 2015, for hot water storage tanks (volume up to 500 liters), there are requirements for energy labeling of the products. As from September 26, 2017, there is a minimum requirement for its downtime losses that must be met in order for it to be sold on the market.
RISE offers testing possibilities for, among other things, hot water storage tanks according to current test methods and also consultation on issues related to Ecodesign and Energy Labeling. A test of the hot water storage tank at RISE will provide sufficient support to compile the documentation required to sell the product. The hot water storage tank is also compared to the performance requirements set out in the Ecodesign Regulation.
More information on Ecodesign and Energy Labeling is also available on the website of the Swedish Energy Agency, where you can also read about the specific requirements that apply to each product group.
In addition to the above mentioned requirements from Eco-Design and Energy Labeling, RISE also can offer a more extensive test of the hot water storage tank via a P-mark (P-labeling). In addition to the performance measurement of downtime losses, which is a requirement of the eco-design regulation, the tank's hot water capacity, standby losses and a documentation review are also conducted with regard to material selection. If the tank meets all requirements after completion of the test, it is granted approval by rewarding it with a P-mark.
