XRF USER MEETING & COURSEFollowing the successful meeting at MATSMAK in Gothenburg, we will also hold the next meeting there. We start with a 6 h XRF course on Monday September and then a user meeting Tuesday-Wednesday 10-11 September. The fee for the XRF meeting is 7 800 SEK. The fee for Monday's course is 3 800 SEK. If you choose both, register for the User meeting and state that you want to also come for the course – the fee is 8 800 SEK.
XRF instrumental analysis has now existed for more than half a century with technology continuing to develop. With XRF spectroscopy most elements can be measured although typically not the technique of choice for lighter elements such as boron, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, etc. As with all the techniques even XRF has many disadvantages – when you know those your results can be improved!
After the successful meeting at MATSMAK in Gothenburg we will also hold the next meeting there.
We start with a 6-hour XRF course on Monday September 9 at 11-18 and then the user meeting Tuesday and Wednesday 10-11 September 2019.
The scope of the user meeting is the exchange of knowledge, experience and practical tips between all users of different techniques using X-ray fluorescence. Here, users gather to exchange experience and follow developments. Lectures (mainly in English) are mixed with discussions.
At the meeting we will include sample preparation (milling, grinding, briquette and glass bead), and development and maintenance of instruments. We will in detail discuss the performance of energy and wavelength dispersive XRF and compare handheld instruments and lab instruments. We have this year invited and expert on handheld instrument - Maggi Loubser from South Africa.
The Monday course is centered on understanding XRF spectroscopy as a technique and the development of a new analytical method – from customer requirements to a validated method in routine use at your laboratory.
XRF COURSE 9 September and XRF USER MEETING 10-11 September 2019
The user meeting and course is held in collaboration between RISE, Trollboken AB and ESAB AB and is led by Bertil Magnusson and Christos Tsouris. Monday evening we meet at the pub Ölstugan and on Tuesday evening there is a joint cooking at venue Matsmak!
