Built Environment combines holistic approach and excellence in areas such as resource efficiency, function and construction, infrastructure solutions and urban development. We create new knowledge and climate-efficient, energy and cost-effective services and solutions for sustainable and attractive cities and communities.
In collaboration with customers and partners, we are constantly developing new knowledge focusing on technology and methods, in order to strengthen business and society both nationally and internationally. Also, we have Sweden's largest research environment within the concrete and aggregates areas, wood construction and glass.
Through research, development and services such as testing, technical evaluation and certification, often linked to test and demo systems, we help our customers and partners to strengthen their competitiveness and ability for innovation. We also contribute to sustainable social functions in cooperation with the public sector within planning and healthcare.

Innovation Partner to Small and Medium Businesses
We support small and medium-sized companies throughout the innovation and development process. We perform testing and technical evaluation of materials and individual components as well as system solutions.
Test and demo
Test and demonstration is a key part of our business, where companies, universities and government organisations may test and develop ideas into finished models, services and products. The division has several unique test beds, labs and demonstration facilities, where we in close cooperation with customers and partners enable innovations. The work is done in the laboratory and in the field on issues as efficiency, quality, sound environment, security, durability, environmental adaptation and service development.
